Biographical
Details

I graduated from the St. Xavier’s College
and University of Mumbai, India in 2005 with a B.A. (Hons)
in Psychology. I went on to do a M.A. in Counseling Psychology
at the University of Mumbai in 2007. I came to the U.K. later
on in 2007 and I completed my second postgraduate degree,
which was a MSc. in Health Psychology at the University of
Bath. My dissertation was supervised by Dr. Ed Keogh and it
investigated how individual’s rate another person’s
pain based on the facial expressions displayed by the person
and how these ratings are in turn governed by gender-role
stereotypes held by the person. It has been now been written
up as a paper for publication.
I have undertaken a three-year PhD (2008-2011)
and am currently in my 2nd year. I was awarded the Dorothy
Hodgkin Postgraduate Award and funded by Cadburys plc and
the BBSRC. I am supervised by Prof. Peter Rogers and collaborate
with Dr. Yvonne Finnegan from Cadburys plc.
Research
Interests

The PhD roughly seeks to explore how food
labels and attitudes about chocolate have an influence on
psychological factors like mood, and guilt as well as physical
factors like post-consumption gastric sensations in the context
of chocolate consumption.
The PhD also explores the role of ambivalence
and craving in relation to liking and consumption of chocolate.
